Blog Event: Card - Dragonfly Journeys Set~

Jeannie of Dragonfly Journeys is one of my new blogger-budz. I somehow came across her wonderful blog and liked the fact that every time she posts a new project, it makes me smile. If you haven't had an opportunity to visit her blog, here's her link - http://dragonflyjourneys.blogspot.com/

She is a very giving person, a
s well. Volunteering to make cards for patients in a hospice, many suffering from life threatening, grave illnesses, Jeannie creates beautiful cards in an effort to provide them with support, warmth and good will. She has generously and happily shared her heart in a giving effort to cheer them up during horrendously difficult and tragic times. She also loves hosting parties for friends to get together to *create* cards and learn new techniques. I've picked up ideas from her over the past months using these techniques for my Valentine's collection.

I adore so many of the darling handmade cards she has made. And secretly wished that I could talk her out of a few!! As you can see, I'm very determined and lucky to participate in the Blog Candy Giveaway that's circulating here in cyber land. As soon as she posted her notice, I signed up! Just look at these beauties!!!

Marty and I were about to head to Longview a few weekends ago for Mason's golf tourny. I noticed the usual stack of mail that my kids place on the baby grand piano near the front door that they aren't supposed to put there but do anyway (see earlier posts!}... My eyes gravitated towards a large envelope and I knew it was from Jeannie! I was so excited and so curious to see what she had created for me! But rather than rushing to open it, I tucked it under my arm and took it with us while we traveled. I didn't open it immediately in the car either - no, I knew it would be awesome, special, beautiful and wanted to enjoy unraveling the package. I waited until we'd picked up the standard Starbucks and McDonald's bacon, egg and cheese biscuit ... All the while, sipping my hazelnut latte, nibbling the biscuit and eying the package ... piquing my curiosity even further.

Finally ... it was time. I smiled to myself like a kid does opening up that first Christmas present! Then, pulled out a beautifully antiqued, small vintage looking folder that was personalized with Juls~ ... My happiness and glee turned to sentiment and appreciation. How beautiful it was ... I almost couldn't open it from the emotion. I was like, "Look at this Marty! Look what Jeannie made for me ..."

I untied the pretty white organza ribbon and tears started welling up ... Don't ask me why ... I'm just a highly EMO woman and I instantly knew that Jeannie had taken a lot of time to meticulously make these cards just for me. And to top it off, she had made a set of 4, all differently designed! They screamed JULS! I fell in love with them!!! I couldn't take my eyes off of them and studied every little detail... even the inside where she had matted, antiqued them and placed a tiny little sequin heart, as a sweet accent.

The papers consist of all my favorite warm toned colors. The cute flowers she made with the sequin accent on the fronts are spectacular, in my opinion! Totally luscious!

I love our Blog World. I love that I can find people who are sentimental and kind-hearted, as I strive to be. I love that we are all open to share our hearts, feelings and lives with each other. For some reason, it isn't as easy to do this in the real world. Perhaps the people in the real world are not quite like us. We are all unique with our own talents and personalities, yet in the Blog World we gravitate towards each other. I think we're special. Don't you? What do you think about the friendships you've created here?

So! JEANNIE! Thank you so much for the wonderful gift! You went way over the top and totally surprised me! And as I've said, I love each and every one of them and don't think I'll be able to part with them. I'd have to copy them for friends and family because these are just TOO SPECIAL ... they are MADE BY YOU!

Please don't be shy! Leave a comment and point me in your direction! I enjoy reading them!

  6. @CurtInCarmel Curt! Oh, how I've missed you! I need a fix of new pup-pics! Thanks for complimenting my writing style. You are so kind. Maybe I should write a juicy love story! It's said that all of us have at least one book in us! Funny that you say that about me -- my recently found half sister, Nicky, is considering writing a book about her life. I joke that I could add a coupla REALLY good chapters! LOL!
